Berkeley Middle East Mother & Child Health Centre

Where Compassion Heals and Every Life Matters

The Berkeley Middle East Mother & Child Health Centre stands as a beacon of hope, care, and dignity — a place where compassion meets medical excellence, and where every mother and child is treated as family.
Founded by Musa Mahmood Shaikh and led by Azra Musa Mahmood Shaikh, under the blessings and gracious support of H.E. Aarefa Al Falahi, this centre was established with one powerful purpose: to ensure that no woman or child suffers due to lack of care, access, or affordability.

Born from a vision rooted in faith and humanity, the centre blends medical innovation with mercy, offering a sanctuary where healing is not just a treatment — it is an act of love.

To create a world where every mother receives safe, respectful healthcare and every child has the opportunity to grow strong, healthy, and hopeful — regardless of background or income.

  • Our mission is to deliver accessible, ethical, and compassionate healthcare to women and children through:
    • Free and subsidised medical care for the underprivileged.
    • Comprehensive maternal and child services, ensuring safe pregnancies and healthy development.
    • Preventive healthcare and education, empowering women with knowledge and awareness.
    • Community outreach programmes to bring medical support to rural and low-income families.
    • Health literacy initiatives to help mothers make informed decisions about nutrition, hygiene, and family wellbeing.
In many parts of the world, women and children face preventable suffering. Mothers lose their lives in childbirth, and infants are denied basic healthcare simply because of poverty or distance.
Witnessing this reality inspired Musa Mahmood Shaikh to take action — to build a place where care is not determined by wealth, but by need.
Thus, the Berkeley Middle East Mother & Child Health Centre was born — a mission to restore health, dignity, and hope.
It began as a dream to serve the forgotten, but it quickly grew into a movement that unites doctors, donors, and volunteers under one shared purpose: to save lives and serve humanity.
  • Expand into a 200-bed hospital offering advanced maternal and paediatric care.
  • Establish the Berkeley Medical Training Institute for Women, empowering future female healthcare professionals.
  • Launch telemedicine services connecting rural communities with qualified doctors.
  • Create a nutrition and vaccination outreach programme for children across remote regions.
  • Partner with international hospitals and NGOs for skill exchange, resources, and global support.
  • Compassion: Every patient is treated with empathy, dignity, and respect.
  • Faith in Action: We believe serving humanity is an expression of faith.
  • Excellence in Care: Quality healthcare delivered by trained and dedicated professionals.
  • Equality: No woman or child should be denied care due to financial limitations.
  • Education & Empowerment: Teaching health practices that sustain generations.
  • Maternal Health & Safe Delivery: Comprehensive care before, during, and after childbirth.
  • Paediatric & Infant Care: Vaccination, nutrition, early development, and specialised medical support.
  • Women’s Wellness: Gynaecology, reproductive health, and mental wellbeing services.
  • Preventive Medicine: Hygiene, nutrition, and family health awareness programmes.
  • Community Outreach: Free medical camps and mobile clinics for rural and underserved populations.
  • Education & Counselling: Health awareness sessions for mothers and caregivers.

Message from the Founder

“I created this centre with one belief — that saving a mother’s life saves an entire generation, and caring for a child is caring for the future.
Too many women and children suffer in silence because they cannot afford care. The Berkeley Middle East Mother & Child Health Centre exists to change that — to turn compassion into action and faith into healing.
What began as my personal idea soon became a movement. People saw the sincerity of the mission and joined hands, and together we built not just a medical centre, but a sanctuary of hope.”
— Musa Mahmood Shaikh, Founder
